Every road in Dort has a second map. The first marks towns, rivers, borders, and trade roads. The second marks the places where horses refuse the bit, where no bird crosses the pass, where the grass grows short because the ground has learned to be heavy. Sensible travelers learn both maps. Adventurers learn the second one late.
Ix - Creature Catalog is the Game Master's creature book for campaigns set in Dort. It converts existing Dort creature sources from legacy 5e-style presentation into Exodus NDS table format and expands the world with new creatures that fill the expected fantasy bestiary roles without importing another game's assumptions.
This book is GM-facing, but not GM-secret by default. Players may read it. The stat blocks and tactics are written plainly because a useful monster book should survive table use, character research, and player curiosity. When a creature entry contains campaign-sensitive material, the entry says so.
What This Book Does
- Provides Exodus NDS stat blocks for Dort creatures.
- Prioritizes Dort's canonical dragons as realm-defining apex threats.
- Excludes Fey Dragons and Void creatures by author direction.
- Adds new default fantasy creatures where Ix needs a complete table ecosystem.
- Gives each creature signs, tactics, encounter use, variants, and an art placeholder.
What This Book Does Not Do
This book does not replace the Ix Player Guide, GM Guide, Dort Species Guide, or Exodus NDS Spells. It references those books where useful, but creature rules live here only when they are needed to run a stat block.
Production Method
Creatures are drafted in batches of 20. Each batch is intended to be reviewed as a focused conversion pass before the next batch is drafted.
